About Us:

Siri Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pasco takes great pride in its affiliation with Gustavo Siri Pires, a highly respected fifth-degree black belt in the Carlos Gracie Junior lineage. Our name, “Siri,” derives from the Portuguese word for crab, symbolizing our deep connection to our Brazilian origins and honoring Gustavo’s remarkable journey. In his early days of training in Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo was affectionately known as “The Little Crab,” while his older brother held the title of “The Crab.” As Gustavo’s skills and dedication intensified over time, he rightfully claimed the distinguished moniker of “The Crab” himself. Thus, the name Siri serves as both a meaningful tribute to our Brazilian heritage and a testament to Gustavo’s profound impact on our academy.

Our History:

 Siri Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was founded in 2017 by Gustavo and Katlynn Pires when they relocated to Kennewick, Washington. Since then, Gustavo’s presence has made a lasting impact on the Jiu-Jitsu community—not only in the Tri-Cities but throughout Eastern Washington and the Pacific Northwest. Siri HQ in Kennewick has grown into a thriving academy with a diverse community of hundreds of students and has become the central hub for several affiliate academies, including Sargent BJJ in Walla Walla, Imperial Jitz in Ephrata, Copper Head Jiu-Jitsu in Pendleton/La Grande, and then, Siri BJJ Pasco.

Siri BJJ Pasco was established by Professor Wesley Cooper in 2023 as an affiliate under Siri BJJ, founded by Professor Gustavo Pires. Originally, Professor Wes and his family were planning to relocate to California due to changes in his wife’s job. However, recognizing Wes’s deep passion for the sport and his unique talent as a coach, Professor Gustavo offered him the opportunity to open an affiliate academy under the Siri BJJ brand. This gave Professor Wes the chance to pursue his calling — not only as an athlete and instructor but also as a business owner dedicated to sharing the art of Jiu-Jitsu.

At Siri BJJ Pasco, we are proud to carry forward the values of excellence, camaraderie, and growth that Gustavo and Katlynn Pires have embedded into the Siri BJJ name. Together, we are committed to fostering a strong and supportive Jiu-Jitsu community in Pasco, where students of all ages and backgrounds can experience the transformative power of this incredible martial art.
